Halton, ON, November 2026 – The Halton housing market showed signs of renewed activity in October, with transaction volumes increasing across both detached and attached home segments compared to September. While sales remained below October 2025 levels, the month-over-month improvement suggests buyers continued to re-enter the market as pricing remained relatively stable and inventory levels adjusted to more seasonal patterns.
Across the Halton Region, the average price for single-family homes reached $1.43 million, up 2.1% from September and 3.0% higher than October 2025. Sales activity increased 13.3% month-over-month with 333 transactions, though volume remained 21.5% lower than the same period last year. New listings totaled 789 properties, down 24.9% from September and 13.7% below October 2025 levels.
The townhouse and condominium segment recorded an average price of $747,723, down 6.5% from September and 5.3% below October 2025. Despite softer pricing, transaction volume increased 15.1% from the previous month, reaching 251 sales, although activity remained 12.5% below last year’s level. New listings declined 17.3% month-over-month and were 23.1% lower than October 2025.
Year-to-date activity continues to reflect a market in transition. Detached home sales are down 2.6% compared to the same period in 2025, while townhouse and condominium transactions are down 8.3%. New listing activity remains lower across all major housing categories, suggesting continued caution among both buyers and sellers heading into the final months of the year.

President’s Outlook:
“October brought some encouraging signs for Halton’s housing market, with sales increasing from September and average single-family prices edging higher,” says Heidi Noël, President of OMDREB.
“But it’s important to keep those improvements in perspective. Single-family sales were still down more than 21% compared to last October, and townhouse and condo sales were down 12.5%. Buyers are becoming more active, but we’re certainly not seeing the level of activity we would normally expect at this time of year.
“What’s interesting is that average single-family prices have increased in several of our communities, including Oakville and Burlington, while the number of buyers actually making purchases remains relatively low. It’s too early to say whether prices are beginning to turn around, particularly when relatively few transactions can influence the averages. But for buyers who have been waiting, this is worth paying attention to. There’s still good choice, and most homes are selling below asking price. If prices do begin to strengthen, some of today’s advantages may become harder to find.
“We’ve also enjoyed some spectacular fall weather, and November is off to a beautiful start. It’s a great time to get out and explore neighbourhoods, visit properties and see what’s available. Whether you’re seriously considering a move or just beginning to look, an OMDREB REALTOR® can help you understand the opportunities in your particular area and make an informed decision.”
