Halton Region New Home Starts – April 2026

Below is the latest monthly new home starts data for the Halton Region, broken down by municipality and dwelling type, as well as a few notable highlights. This information comes direct from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). 

April Highlights:

  • In April 2026, there were 178 new home starts in Halton Region, mostly consisting of row homes in North Oakville and South Milton. See neighbourhood spotlight in attachment for more details.
  • In the first four months of 2026, there were 442 new home starts in Halton Region. This year’s activity was well below the January to April ten-year median of 1,245, which is a benchmark for the typical number of starts in the region.
  • In Oakville, there were 193 new home starts in the first four months of 2026, which was below their January to April benchmark of 575 starts.
  • In Milton, there were 210 new home starts in the first four months of 2026, which was below their January to April benchmark of 274 starts.
  • In Burlington, there were 23 new home starts in the first four months of 2026, which was below their January to April benchmark of 155 starts.
  • In Halton Hills, there were 16 new home starts in the first four months of 2026, which was below their January to April benchmark of 31 starts.
