Halton Region New Construction Housing Starts – March 2026

Below is the latest monthly new construction housing starts data for the Halton Region, broken down by municipality and dwelling type, as well as a few notable highlights. This information comes direct from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). 

March Highlights:

  • In March 2026, there were 97 new home starts in Halton Region, mostly consisting of single-detached and row homes in North Oakville and South Milton. See neighbourhood spotlight in attachment for more details.
  • In the first three months of 2026, there were 264 new home starts in Halton Region, which was well below the January to March ten-year median of 834.
  • In Oakville, there were 156 starts in the first three months of 2026, which was below their January to March ten-year median of 439.
  • In Burlington, there were 22 starts in the first three months of 2026, which was below their January to March ten-year median of 52.
  • In Milton, there were 77 starts in the first three months of 2026, which was below their January to March ten-year median of 225.
  • In Halton Hills, there were 9 starts in the first three months of 2026, which was below their January to March ten-year median of 21.
