Advocating for Housing: OMDREB meets with Green Party of Ontario South Halton Candidates
February 26, 2025
Milton, ON, February 26, 2025 – Last week, we shared information about OMDREB’s 2025 Ontario Election Platform, Halton Region: A Home For All, and that we got in touch with our local candidates from all parties running in the election to ensure housing remains a critical conversation piece.
OMDREB asked all candidates to meet – if scheduling allowed – ahead of Thursday’s election.
We recently had the opportunity to sit down virtually with South Halton candidates from the Green Party of Ontario to discuss the housing priorities outlined in our platform.
OMDREB was encouraged by the conversation, as the South Halton Green Party candidates demonstrated strong alignment with our vision for a more sustainable and accessible housing market. They recognized the urgent need for thoughtfully increased housing supply, policy solutions to improve affordability, infrastructure, and mobility (transit), and measures to streamline a broken Landlord and Tenant Board system. Importantly, they committed to furthering these priorities should they form part of the next government.
Engagement with political leaders is a key part of our advocacy strategy, ensuring that the voices of OMDREB REALTORS® are heard at every level of government. Even after the Ontario Election, we will continue meeting with the leaders of parties across the political spectrum to push for policies that support a strong and balanced housing market in the Halton Region.
As we receive more responses to our platform, they will be shared.
